Templar Protocol has secured $4 million in pre-seed funding to develop a decentralized lending platform built for Bitcoin. Backed by investors including Robot Ventures, DigiAsset Fund, Proximity, BlackDragon, and NEAR Protocol, the project introduces a lending system designed to function without centralized oversight or identity verification requirements.
The protocol operates using multi-party computation (MPC) networks and open-source smart contracts powered by Chain Signatures. This approach allows Bitcoin holders to borrow stablecoins by providing BTC as collateral, eliminating the need for wrapping, bridging, or intermediaries. Designed with a focus on privacy and accessibility, the platform offers a streamlined process where users agree to loan terms, deposit Bitcoin, and receive stablecoins without relying on third parties. Templar Protocol is currently in its testnet phase, inviting users to engage with the system and provide feedback.
