Pluralis Research, Protocol Learning using Collaborative model training with pooled computational resources, Raise $7.6M Seed Round

Pluralis Research has completed a $7.6 million seed funding round, with Union Square Ventures and CoinFund leading the investment. The funding will be used to advance the company's efforts in open-source AI development through its Protocol Learning framework. Several other investors, including Topology VC, Variant Fund, Bodhi Ventures, Fabric VC, and Eden Block, also participated in the round.

Protocol Learning is designed to facilitate decentralized AI training by distributing model weights across multiple contributors. This approach prevents any single entity from having exclusive control over a model while allowing for large-scale collaboration. The framework aims to lower technical barriers, making AI development more accessible to a broader range of participants. Contributors who take part in training and development receive a stake in the resulting models, providing an incentive for ongoing participation.
