Polychain and Superscrypt served as lead investors, with participation from Folius Ventures, Sfermion, The Spartan Group, Nomad Capital, CMT Digital, Nicole Zhang, and other individual backers. The funds are set to bolster initiatives aimed at strengthening ties between creators and their audience while advancing the anime industry's growth globally.
Several prominent figures in the anime industry are collaborating with Oshi. Masao Takiyama, former President of Animax Japan, is recognized for spearheading global licensing for titles such as Astro Boy and Paprika. Yasushi Uchida, previously COO of Gonzo, has a history of overseeing major animation studios and iconic intellectual properties, including Patlabor and Pluto. Masao Maruyama, the founder of MAPPA, MADHOUSE, and Studio M2, is also involved through a partnership with Kasagi Labo. These contributions are expected to enhance Oshi's capacity to deliver on its objectives.
The funding will enable Oshi to implement new tools and programs designed to support anime creators and studios. The platform seeks to encourage collaboration between creators and fans while addressing challenges faced by the industry.
