The seed funding round saw contributions from a16z Crypto Startup Accelerator (a16z CSX), SV Angel, Coinbase Ventures, SALT Fund, Symbolic Capital, Foresight Ventures, and notable angel investors like Balaji Srinivasan (former Coinbase CTO), Illia Polosukhin (NEAR Founder), and Sandeep Nailwal (Polygon Founder). OpenGradient is also part of the Fall 2024 a16z CSX program in New York City.


The funds will be used to enhance their decentralized infrastructure, provide tools and solutions for AI and Web3 developers, and advance machine learning research to expand the open-source AI ecosystem on the blockchain. OpenGradient plans to launch its testnet for developers in the fourth quarter of 2024.
