Imua, a blockchain protocol focused on shared security, has raised $5 million in a seed funding round led by Draper Dragon, No Limit Holdings, and Paramita VC. The capital will be used to advance its framework for securing decentralized networks without requiring asset transfers between chains.
The protocol, developed using Cosmos SDK and Tendermint consensus, is designed to integrate security functions at the protocol level rather than relying on smart contracts. Imua’s model enables staking and re-staking without bridging or wrapping tokens, ensuring that assets remain on their original layer-1 blockchains. Its native token, $IMUA, facilitates network governance, transaction fees, and staking operations.
Imua is currently running on a public testnet with more than 40 validator operators participating in its validation process. To prepare for its mainnet launch, the project is introducing a staking mechanism known as re-staked Proof-of-Stake (rPoS), which incorporates assets from multiple blockchains to establish security. The team is also exploring methods for implementing staking insurance to address potential risks. Additional partnership announcements and product updates are expected soon.
