Hypersonic Laboratories recently secured $7 million in funding for Helix, a multiplayer role-playing sandbox platform designed for user-generated content (UGC). The platform empowers creators, known as “modders,” to develop their own games within a virtual world.

Play Ventures spearheaded the funding round, joined by AppWorks, WTIC, KB Investment, and Alex Ekvall. This recent investment brings Hypersonic’s total funding to $11 million. The additional capital will be utilized to grow the Hypersonic Laboratories team and prepare for the closed alpha launch of Helix later this year, according to Jack Kim, CEO of Hypersonic Laboratories, in an interview with Games.
Securing funding during the economic downturn posed challenges, but investors demonstrated strong confidence in the team's execution capabilities due to the progress achieved thus far.
