Helius, a provider of developer tools for the Solana blockchain, has raised $21.75 million to enhance its app development services. The announcement was made by Helius Co-Founder and CEO Mert Mumtaz on X. The funding round was led by Haun Ventures and Founders Fund, with additional support from 6MV, Foundation Capital, Chapter One, and Spearhead.

Mumtaz emphasized the importance of creating better, faster, and cheaper apps for the future of crypto, stating that the new funds will help achieve this goal. Helius offers tools that simplify building on Solana, which has been challenging for developers due to its complex setups and the need to learn Rust, a programming language with long compilation times but significant benefits in speed and memory safety. In contrast, Ethereum, Solana’s main competitor, uses the more widely adopted Solidity.
Helius provides high-performance RPC Nodes, APIs, Webhooks, and Geyser Plugins for low-latency data streaming. They also introduced a ZK Compression tool in partnership with Light Protocol to optimize ledger space and reduce storage costs. Helius operates the top validator on Solana by active stake, surpassing validators from Galaxy Digital, Coinbase, and Figment, and charges no fees.
Breck Stodghill from Haun Ventures noted that many ambitious Solana builders rely on Helius for critical parts of their applications. Earlier this year, Helius raised $9.5 million in a Series A round led by Foundation Capital, with participation from several other firms.
