Traditionally, AI systems rely on massive data centers owned by tech giants. GaiaNet proposes a different approach: a network of individual computers working together. These computers would be like "AI twins" of real-world experts, able to perform tasks based on their specific knowledge.

Imagine a network of AI tutors that can help students in large classes. This is one of the areas GaiaNet is focusing on initially. They have already partnered with UC Berkeley to bring AI teaching assistants to computer science courses.

The funding will be used to develop new AI models and grow the network. The goal is to create a system that rivals the capabilities of existing AI systems, but in a more decentralized way.

This project comes at a time when there is increasing interest in decentralized technologies. Unlike other projects that focus on data or computing power, GaiaNet targets the core of AI systems - the servers that run the models. This could significantly change how AI is developed and used.

GaiaNet is expected to launch a test version of its network in early Q3 2024. You can learn more about the project on their website or social media.

About GaiaNet

GaiaNet stands as a champion for a more open and private future of AI. Their approach revolves around a decentralized network built on individual devices, rather than centralized servers. This keeps user data secure and fosters transparency in how AI functions. This open network empowers both developers and businesses. Developers can create innovative AI tools, while businesses can leverage them and private data holders can securely contribute their information. Ultimately, GaiaNet seeks a seamless transition, integrating with existing technology to offer a familiar user experience while ushering in a new era of transformative AI capabilities.
