Fluent Labs, a blockchain infrastructure company developing an Ethereum Layer 2 execution network, has secured $8 million in funding across seed and seed extension rounds. The investment was led by Polychain Capital, with additional participation from Primitive, dao5, Symbolic Capital, Builder Capital, Nomad Capital, and Public Works. Several individual investors, including Balaji Srinivasan, Mustafa Al-Bassam, Jason Yanowitz, and Santiago Santos, also contributed to the round. The company has not disclosed its valuation but confirmed that this funding represents its total capital raised to date.
The company is focused on building a Layer 2 network that integrates multiple execution environments. Its approach combines WebAssembly (Wasm), Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), and Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) to create a unified development space. By supporting multiple virtual machines, Fluent Labs aims to address the constraints developers face when working within single-ecosystem environments. More than 60 projects are already under development within its ecosystem, spanning applications in decentralized finance, infrastructure, and onchain analytics.
Fluent Labs plans to use the funding to expand its team, particularly in engineering, and to develop the infrastructure required for its testnet and future deployments. The platform is designed to allow users to interact with applications from different blockchain environments without switching wallets or managing separate accounts. The company also intends to implement parallel processing capabilities, which could improve transaction efficiency across the supported virtual machines.
