CAT Labs has announced a $5.4 million Seed funding round to enhance its efforts in developing tools that address the misuse of emerging technologies such as cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence. The round was led by venture capital firm M13, with participation from existing Pre-Seed backers, including Castle Island Ventures, CMT Digital, and Hash3.
The company develops technology aimed at assisting government agencies and private sector organizations in combating illegal activities involving advanced technologies. Its flagship product, Recovery CAT, enables federal and local agencies to automate and scale cryptocurrency investigations. This solution supports the identification and recovery of illicit assets, aiding efforts to disrupt criminal enterprises and return stolen funds to victims. CAT Labs also offers a Digital Asset Seizure Certification Course for law enforcement, which provides training in identifying and seizing digital assets connected to criminal activity.
CAT Labs is also working on quantum-resistant solutions to safeguard cryptographic key backup and recovery. Backed by the U.S. National Science Foundation, these technologies aim to mitigate future risks associated with the advent of quantum computing. The Seed funding will support the company's ongoing development and expansion into new markets.
