In May 2024, BTQ received approval for its Mitacs Accelerate project, "Enabling Efficient Zero-Knowledge Proofs-Based Post-Quantum Digital Signature Schemes." This project, supervised by Prof. Guang Gong from the University of Waterloo's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, will run until July 2026.
Guang Gong, the project lead and a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, as well as a University Research Chair and IEEE Fellow, expressed his enthusiasm for receiving the Mitacs grant in partnership with HH-BTQ. The project focuses on exploring the efficiency and implementation of Preon, a post-quantum digital signature scheme based on the Aurora zkSNARK proof system and the AES circuit, which was submitted to NIST in 2023. This collaboration will offer graduate students and post-doctoral fellows valuable research experiences and exposure to advanced industrial R&D.
